PASS PLUS is a voluntary scheme that offers benefits to newly qualified  car drivers - fewer accidents and cheaper motor insurance.

Most drivers become safer by driving more miles and by experiencing more driving situations, but it is not enough to let new drivers learn by experience - too often they learn the hard way.  PASS PLUS offers new drivers professional instruction and supervision in circumstances where they will have little experience and at the time when they are most vulnerable.  Its primary aim is to develop the attitude and skills that are essential to safe driving.

The course will take you through driving in town, on rural roads, in all weathers, on dual carriageways and motoroways, and in the dark.

THE FACTS

When you successfully complete the course, the Driving Standards Agency send you a certificate so you can claim your insurance discount.

The insurers in the scheme represent over 63% of the private car insurance market.

Most participating insurers will give you a one year's no claim bonus as soon as you insure your own car.  You may be able to defer the bonus for up to two years.

You can take the PASS PLUS course at any time in your driving career, but it's mainly aimed at new drivers in the first year after passing their test.
